but then the human psyche has such varying range. and beauty is subject to the beholder's eye. so what is beautiful to one person does not necessarily hold true to another.

with that said, the designer-for-hire must get into the psyche of the client. whilst the pure artist must get into the psyche of the inner self...

  3. This is off topic, it rather refers to a really old post of yours on Portable Photoshop but I really hope you can help me. I've been using a portable phohotshop but for some reason, when I first start it, it gives me a message it says that "Adobe Updater cannot be started, please reinstall the application". Also whenever I try to use the stamp clone tool and press Alt to select an area to clone, it says "an attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format". I click "OK" then Photoshop closes. Would you know how to fix this? I appreciate any help =) Thanks

I think the beauty that is being described here refers to basic design principles that is used to make good layouts. Principles like Colors, repetitions, alignment, proximity to name a few.

A good understanding and execution of these principles makes beautiful, simple layouts. That is what, generally, draws attention. Beauty being in the eye of the beholder is more of a exception rather than the rule, but is always a valid argument. It usually applies to art forms like paintings sculptures where a person's taste is varying.

And you also have to understand that you always have a target audience, you cannot be everything to everyone. That kind of assumption is a surefire way to have your design fail.

And youre right, the designer for hire must get into the psyche of the client. In my experience, just give them what they want and you will have no problems.
